Reads and Resources

This report by the Center for the Study of Child Care Employment (CSCCE) compares the salaries and educational backgrounds of early childhood, preschool, and kindergarten teachers with the salaries of those in other professions. It observes that research currently shows that early childhood education plays a powerful role in children’s lifelong development; that early childhood education is a wise investment; and that the quality of early childhood programs is extremely important. Given those accepted premises, the report makes the case that we do not appropriately compensate childcare workers or preschool teachers. Read it here.
