As states implement the more rigorous Common Core State Standards, education leaders must effectively communicate about this transition to members of their communities. In this case study, the Hunt Institute analyzes the communications strategies employed by Kentucky and Tennessee in order to build support for the implementation of the Common Core in their states. The findings are distilled into eight “Lessons Learned,” which include proactive communication, planning for the inevitable, and meeting with stakeholders and listening.
