These essays, collected by The New Teacher Project, are each written by a 2016 winner of the Fishman Prize for Superlative Classroom Practice. This award honors 100 teachers for their efforts to create challenging and engaging classrooms for all of their students. Writing about their personal experiences with students, teachers covered numerous topics, including:

  • How student-led parent conferences help students reflect on their academic strengths and weaknesses.
  • How teachers and students can share feedback with each other to improve both learning and teaching, transforming a classroom into an education laboratory.
